Getting lots in French Museums, Statues and Cathedrals
There is no doubt, Paris have one of the highest amount of museums, monuments, statues, churches, cathedrals and everything related with, that can be found in one city.
If you are interested in history, art, modern design or just want to take some stunning photos. This is a must go destination! Let me mention a few of them I found interesting.
Louvre Museum is a must see! Undoubtly it is one of the biggest and best Museums in world. It is so big you would need at least half of a day if not the whole day to see all the expositions. So better go there quite early. This way, you can avoid some queues and have time to have a rest after long walk you are about to do. Oh and better get comfortable shoes. To avoid the quese take the “secret entrance”, called Porte des Lions instead of main entrance in pyramid.
Musée d’Orsay, is fabulous and would be my second recommendation, it also has a great bookstore where you can buy some souvenirs. From other worth mentioned : Musee de la Magie, Musée des Arts et Métiers, Musée Carnavalet, Foucault’s Pendulum and the Paris Pantheon, Deyrolle Taxidermy, Museum of Vampires and Legendary Creatures, Museum of the History of Medicine, Musée des Arts Forains Musée, National de la Marine, those thematic museums are all very well prepared and I am sure everyone will find something interesting in each of them.
National Library of France is also a worth mentioning.
Please be aware, many Parisian museums and monuments are closed on Monday or Tuesday, and on some holidays
The Sorbonne and the Latin Quarter, beautiful square, lots of restaurants. Great to have a small stop and tea/coffee break.
STATUES AND MONUMENTS
The Defender of Time statue (beautiful statue), Statue of Death of the University of Medicine,
Paris point Zero (geographical center point of Paris)
“I love you” wall, a very inspiring art project. Wall with words “I love you” and love sentences in different languages. Great for photo shooting.
CHAPELS, CHURCHES, CATHEDRALS
Notre Dame Cathedral is one of the most beautiful I agree, but queues are terrible. Other worth checking are Sainte-Chapelle, St-Denis Basilica and Royal Necropolis, Sacre Coeur Basilica, Saint-Eustache Church, St-Gervais-St-Protais Church and the Scene of Tragedy in WWI, La Madeleine, Saint-Etienne du Mont.
Arc de Triomphe, great viewing point to go as you will walk along busy streets with lots of shops, restaurants and interesting places. Also you will see other arks followed in one line.
Boulevard Haussmann and the Grands Boulevards, shopping center with a stunning view would be a great place to have a break and moment of reflection. Enjoy Paris.
